Madison discovered the mushrooms that were all around her. She asked me if the Smurfs lived under these mushrooms. We had just gone and seen the movie and she was fascinated by these and she kept telling me stories about all the smurfs and she wanted to touch their houses!
As Madison would touch the top of each mushroom, she would giggle with excitement and say "Mommy, I touched the smurf house" It's amazing how a child can just buy into a fantasy and accept it. No analyzing it, no questioning it, just watching in amazement and enjoying each moment to the fullest.
I loved watching Madison discover all the new and beautiful things around her. I realized that no matter what curveball life can throw at you, its the small things in life that make it all worthwhile. As we walked along the path, I slipped Madison's hand into mine and it was as almost in an instant, the troubles and worries of the day disappeared! Just her simple touch and infectious smile brightened my day!
Maddy found the leaves to be fascinating as well. She would pick up each individual leaf up and look at it closely and then blow it away! I thank God everyday that I can again see life through the eyes of my daughter. The wonderment and excitement that she has for all the new things that she discovers brings a sense of peace to my everyday!
We continued to walk through the beautiful trails and Maddy wanted to play hide and seek. This is one of her favorite games so it is always fun for me to play with her. She would run ahead of me and say "Mommy, I am going to hide over there" She always gives away where she is hiding, I just go with it and try to find her even though it's obvious where she is. The pure innocence that she has when we play this game just opens my eyes to the limitless possibilites there are to finding happiness.
As I pushed Maddy on the swing she would say "Higher Mommy, I want to touch the clouds in the sky" Seeing the pure delightment in her face every time I would push her was so breathtaking. The genuine smile on her face and the sweet innocence of her laughter is truly what life is all about!
Spending the afternoon discovering with Madison was so much fun and really made me look at life through her eyes and realize that no matter how difficult a situation may seem to be, I just need to open my eyes and let life happen and do what truly makes me happy. My photography is a way that I bring happiness to my everyday. Photographs are my way of telling a story and capturing the special moments in my life and my childrens life and being able to remember everything as it once was and will continue to be.
Today was a day of discovery and learning and growing for Madison and myself as well. I am so thankful for being blessed with two beautiful daughters who have opened my eyes to a new world and let me truly live life through their eyes.
